Frequently Asked Window Cleaning Questions

  • Do you clean windows in the winter?

Yes, and winter is quietly one of the best times of year to do it.

The low sun shows everything. In winter the sun sits low and comes at your windows sideways instead of from overhead. That angle lights up every streak, every water spot and every bit of film on the glass. Windows that looked fine in August suddenly look awful in December, and nothing changed except the light.

You are looking at them more. Shorter days and more time indoors means more hours spent looking out, and more hours with lamps on inside turning every window into a mirror of whatever is on it.

Bare trees mean it lasts longer. No pollen, no sap, no seed fluff landing on fresh glass. A winter clean often holds up better than a spring one.

Exterior work is fine down to around freezing and interior work is unaffected by weather entirely. Winter is also our quietest stretch, so you get first pick of dates instead of waiting out the spring rush.

  • What if it rains right after you clean my windows?

Clean glass does not spot from clean rain. What makes windows look bad after a storm is the dust and pollen already sitting on them, which the rain turns into streaks. Once that is gone, rain runs off clear.

It is also part of why we clean with purified water instead of soap. Soap leaves a film behind, and film holds onto whatever lands on it next.

  • Can you remove hard water spots from windows?

Usually yes, but it is a separate service from cleaning. Sprinkler overspray leaves mineral deposits that etch into glass over time. At that point the spots are in the window rather than on it, and a standard cleaning will not touch them.

Restoration removes that mineral layer from the glass itself. It takes longer and it is priced separately. Send a close-up photo with your quote request and we will tell you honestly whether you need it or whether a normal cleaning will do

  • Can you reach second story and hard to access windows?

Yes. We use water-fed poles that reach upper floors from the ground, which is safer than putting a ladder on soft landscaping and gentler on your house.

For anything the poles cannot reach we ladder it properly, and we do commercial high rise work as well. If you have something unusual, send a photo and we will tell you straight whether we can do it.

  • Why do you use purified water instead of soap?

Because soap is what makes windows get dirty again so fast. Detergent leaves an invisible film on the glass, and that film grabs every bit of dust and pollen that lands on it afterward.

Purified water has the minerals stripped out of it, so it dries without leaving anything behind at all. No film, nothing for dust to stick to, and no spotting from the water itself. It is slower to work with and the equipment costs more, and it is the reason our cleans hold up longer than they should
